Theme: Stay Focused
Text: Matthew 6.33 (TLB)
and he will give them to you if you give him first place in your life and live as he wants you to.
MESSAGE
I guess I have stated that we should stay focused on our thoughts. This entails setting your mind on something. In the midst of destructions, your mind should be kept busied pondering over it.
The question that needs addressing before the next point is discussed is: what should I set my mind on? I will keep this simple. Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things, as Paul revealed (Colossians 3:2). This does not mean we are not to embark on our various careers or dreams on this Earth. Your assignment on this earth is to live to be a blessing to other people. This means that with who we are, we can help others with what we have including material things. What this means is that we are not to, for example, keep our minds occupied with the latest cars, mansions, etc and neglect the poor and the needy that are around us. Your thought should be consumed with pleasing the Father by focusing on what He loves.
This can never be done if your heart is not on the things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of the Father (Colossians 3:1). How can you set your heart on the Kingdom of God if you have not entered through faith in Christ Jesus as your saviour? So, Jesus advised us to seek first the kingdom of God and its righteousness and all other things shall be added unto us. This morning, God is giving you the opportunity to accept Christ if you have not (kindly read the prayer in faith) and stay rooted in Him if you have not.
