Text: 1 Kings 22:13-14
The messenger who had gone to summon Micaiah said to him, “Look, the other prophets without exception are predicting success for the king. Let your word agree with theirs, and speak favourably.” But Micaiah said, “As surely as the Lord lives, I can tell him only what the Lord tells me.”
MESSAGE
We may be compelled at times to make statements to please the masses. What the audience wants to hear is what we prioritise over what the truth is. It seems easy to get along that way than to fight the public ridicule of standing with the truth.
Micaiah was faced with the same issue. He had the heads up of what the 400 prophets were saying to the Kings. The messenger advised him to for once, go with the masses and say what they are saying. Mockingly, he said that when He appeared before King Ahab. Afterwards, he revealed the truth to him. The truth landed him in prison. He would have been a free man if he had prophesied like the others did. Probably, he would get the commendation from King Ahab that at last, he said something good about me. But the truth mattered more than the praise and titles.
Beloved, stay focused on what you say. Let’s let our yes be our yes and our no be our no. God’s grace is available to help us
