Theme: Responding to God’s Call
Text. Exodus 4: 10
Moses said to the Lord, “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.”
MESSAGE
Our imperfections exist to make us depend on God’s perfection. God’s perfection is made available through the grace He offers us.
God does not call us for assignments we can do without Him. Weighing the assignment, our weakness comes to light as a possible excuse to run from the assignment. Moses had been groomed in Pharaoh’s palace and could have been a probable Pharaoh. He was well-tutored and carried out his job assigned him very well. Amidst this training, his weakness in speech was never mentioned except when he was called by God to deliver the people of Israel. After trying various options to screen himself out of the list, he made mention that he was not good with words, got tongue-tied and his words got tangled.
Beloved, do not think you are far away from Moses’ excuse. Count the number of things you have used as a distraction from doing the very thing God has called you to do. Never joke with God’s patience and grace. Failure to obey God’s assignment is a response you give to His call and be rest assured He will reward you for that (whatever that reward may be).
