Theme: Responding to God’s call.
Text: Matthew 20:1-16
About five in the afternoon he went out and found still others standing around. He asked them, ‘Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?’ “‘Because no one has hired us,’ they answered. “He said to them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard.’
The devil has not specialised in creating. He is into stealing, destroying and killing. Every plan he makes is in response to what he perceives God is doing.
In God’s redemptive plan, He has a place for all of us. There is not a single one of us that is left out of God’s plan. This brings into mind a parable Jesus gave about the landowner that hired people to work in his vineyard. In the morning, he employed people to work in the vineyard at an agreed fee. About nine in the morning, and subsequently after every three hours, he went out to find people doing nothing. He then called them forth to go and work in the vineyard too. At the end of the day, they all received the same reward.
Beloved, the number of years you have wasted doing nothing can never be retrieved. The opportunity you have now is to hearken to the voice of the landowner and work in his vineyard. God is not calling men to do what they want, but He has purposed. The only way to avoid doing nothing is to do work in God’s vineyard.
