Theme: God’s will, your way.
Text: Hebrews 13:20-21
Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
God needed Joseph, a boy who was gifted with dreaming and interpreting dreams to fulfil His prophecy to Abraham. In returning to the land of Ghana, God used Moses, a man trained through the ranks of the Egyptian civilisation to deliver His people.
In times past, God has dealt with His people by sending the Josephs who prophesied the new age. They sowed the seeds that have born the fruits we are about to reap. They have endured the toughest moments from close relatives and extended ones as well, from slave masters and the likes to get us a place to enjoy the prophecy of the Lord. The early fathers suffered a lot in extending the Kingdom of God till this age. Just like Joseph, they transported the message of the Kingdom from Canaan to this foreign land we find ourselves and have made us partakers of God’s great design of giving us rest in the promised land. Having to cope with civilisation after being raised in the culture of uncivilization, they had to fight to keep the civilisation in God’s way.
However, the time has come for Moses to deliver the people. In the culture of the civilised slaves, with some level of literacy, God is looking for men that have been trained by the culture of the civilised world to lead the people. However, God takes them through a moment of shepherding to make them carry out the assignment their way. It’s God’s will that should be your way.
