Theme: My Will, your way.

Text: Romans 12:1-2

And so, dear brothers and sisters,[a] I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.[b] Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

MESSAGE

Your substance of worship to God is offering yourself as a living sacrifice to Him. Your sacrifice is holy and acceptable in Christ Jesus. This is possible if you can also learn to surrender your possessions also to Him.

The forty years of using the staff had trained the hand to use direct the sheep to the safest place. It was not only the staff that was of interest to God but the hand too. This was the case with Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. They fully devoted themselves to do the will of God. They wanted nothing to do with the darkness (idol worship), so they surrendered themselves to God. Then God gave them a usual understanding of the literature of the Babylonians, with Daniel having the unusual ability to interpret dreams. The council of elders during Nebuchadnezzar’s reign knew this literature, and I guess their professor was even around, but Daniel served under four different emperors because He learnt to surrender all to God.

The knowledge we have acquired is the common ground we have to engage the world. God takes interest in them and uses it if we surrender it to Him and apply it in His way.  Don’t go by the way the world does its things, but choose God’s will. There may be more intelligent people than you are, but God can make you a blessing with the little you have. He needs our possessions but He also needs our bodies. The end time army called by God have and are learning to surrender themselves and their possessions fully to God.
