Text: John 20: 24-29
But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
You may want to question God’s ways of doing things because you seem not to understand His timing nor perceive what He is about to do. The human mind operates with logical things.
A cousin once asked a question that demanded to look at the problem from Thomas’ point of view. He wanted to find out why Thomas did not believe the disciples but wanted proof? That got me thinking about the times I have actually behaved like Thomas. To my utmost surprise, I was able to relate with Thomas in some situations. Thomas had the opportunity to walk with Jesus for three and a half years. He had heard of His teachings, of which one was him resurrecting after dying. He had received reports from the women who visited the tomb and now has received messages from the ten other disciples. But in all these cases Thomas was adamant in believing Jesus had resurrected.
God provides us with a series of events to create the awareness that He will fulfil the promise. He assures us in His word. Owing to the abstractness His word may be to some people, He may send the women to share the testimony of their resurrection account. If that may not be enough, He will make the trusted people who are with you to re-confirm His word by making them share their testimony to you. In all these situations, He keeps asking, do you not perceive it?
