Text: 1 Thessalonians 5:18
In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
The people of Israel were swimming in manna, the manifestation of God’s provision, yet they were still focused on the past. To them, the best place they could have been was in Egypt, forgetting they were crying some few months ago for God to save them.
How quickly we tend to forget the troubles of yesterday. These same troubles were enough for us to cry to God day and night for His salvation. But being faced with the troubles of today, we tend to forget the pain and the troubles of the past, only focusing on the good things that were not actually enough to stop us from crying to God for salvation. Leaving Egypt was not only because God had promised to bring them to the promised land flowing with milk and honey. They left Egypt having felt God has answered their prayers of the need for deliverance.
Sometimes God allows us to get thirsty after He has given us bread and meat to find out how we will respond to this situation. In every of life’s situations, God’s will is for us to give thanks instead of complaining. The present comes with its challenges, yes it does, but God is still the same yesterday, today and forever.
