Text: Matthew 14:22-33
“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” (V28-30)
The word of God is sure. He is really interested in the fulfilment of His word concerning your life. What He has said, so will He do.
Let me take time to summarise what we have been discussing so far. God watches His word to perform. Because of our doubt, we tend to shift our focus from what He says to what surrounds us. Peter heard Christ’s word to come to Him as He was walking on the water. Peter started off very well when He was focusing on Christ. However, his attention drifted to the water and then fear took hold of him. That was when He begun to sink. But when He cried out to the one who called out for him, Christ helped him out.
When our attention is on the promise of God, we believe its fulfilment. However, when our minds drift off to the pressures around us, then we tend to doubt the work God has spoken concerning us. No wonder Joshua has to meditate on the word day and night. The key to his success as a leader was to lead the people into what the Lord had promised, and He needed focus to sail through.
