Theme: Be a Blessing

Text: 2 Corinthians 9:10-11

10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us, your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

Mark Batterson said and I quote: “when God blesses you financially, don’t raise your standard of living. Raise your standard of giving”.

Never had I really thought about the instruction God gave Abraham so deeply than I have done over the past few days. The carnal man who has not developed the heart of giving would have left with the wife alone. After all, the instruction was to leave alone. But this makes me recollect of a scripture in the Bible. I have quoted it in the opening verse. When God provides all you need, He gives you excess so that you can have some left over to bless others. This means that if your needs are met and you still have an excess of the fruits left, the rest is to help others. That gives meaning to the quote by Mark Batterson.

We are in the month of December and the season of giving. This does not necessarily mean that giving can only be done during Christmas. But I always remind myself of this: “if I give little, I receive little. If I give much, I receive much. If I give everything, I get everything back with excess”. So it is better to give cheerfully. Bless someone with the excess of what you have.
