Theme: Be a blessing
Text: Matthew 2:11
On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshipped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
MESSAGE
We all have valuable assets. We have things that we cherish so much irrespective of what it may be. They are our treasures.
The three wise men had a call to visit the newborn baby. Following the directions of the star and a detour to get to the manger, they finally fulfilled the prophecy about the Messiah. Meeting their host, the Messiah and his family, presented him gifts from their treasures. The gold, frankincense and myrrh were very valuable to the wise men, but they gave them up. We all have things we have stored up for ourselves through our hard work and sacrifice. We cherish them so much as to try and keep them for ourselves. However, the call to give requires of us to reach out into our treasures.
What have you cherished so much? Some of us have cherished our money, dresses, and the rest. We hold them in high regard because of how hard we go them. But to be a blessing, you have to reach into your treasures and give out the gifts.
