Theme: Be a blessing
Text: Acts 9:36
In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (in Greek her name is Dorcas); she was always doing good and helping the poor.
It is a blessing to receive, but he who gives receives the greater blessing. For there is blessing in giving than in receiving.
Some may have been wondering what they can give during this season of giving. You may have not been able to give any present during this Christmas because you think your present is invaluable. But the gift is valuable if the gift is from the heart of the giver and meet the needs of the receiver. This is the account of Dorcas. She had the talent of sowing dresses. Although she was not the richest person in her time, she took delight in clothing the poor and the widows. Arguably, these people would have appreciated such gifts than the rich because she was meeting their needs.
However “ordinary,” you think your gift is, someone will cherish it. There is no kindness too small to bless someone. Whatever you have is enough to bless someone. Just give it from your heart.
