Theme: The Lord, My Refuge
Text: Psalm 46:1 (TLB)
God is our refuge and strength, a tested help in times of trouble.
MESSAGE
All over the news, we do hear reports of accidents, murders, and all other forms of atrocities. Wishing the opposite always happened but are not getting our wishes, we are left at the doorsteps of fear.
When going out, you are afraid if that might be your last day; when at home, you are afraid if you are attacked that night and the list goes on. The emotions that come after asking the question “if …” is that of fear. Keeping us ignorant of who we are and what we have, we are left begging at the doorsteps of our enemies for help, hoping they would be of instant help. Like Brian Tracy wrote, “the two factors that contribute most to the feeling of helplessness and comfort zone are fear and ignorance”, we, therefore, think of ourselves as helpless and settle for whatever comes our way.
I’m not quite sure these atrocities will stop today, probably except God judges the world and there is the new Heaven and Earth. This means that our woes will keep aggravating if we hold on to fear rather than looking for the assured solace. Where can I find it? Well, let’s continue later.
