Theme: Dominating through Excellence
Remember where you came from
Text: Daniel 9: 1-3 (NIV)
… in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the Lord given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years. 3 So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes.
MESSAGE
We put the focus on what lies ahead of us; we measure how far God has brought us by taking account where we started from.
Many times, we tend to forget where we started our journey. Having become comfortable with the wealth and fame of the position we are in, we forget the help we could offer the people and the place we started from. Daniel, having served under the administration of Nebuchadnezzar and Belshazzar, was not satisfied with the comfort and security he had. He turned to the Lord and pleaded with him in prayer and fasting after learning that the prophecy of the return of the people of Judah was due it’s fulfilment.
One key to dominating through excellence is to remember where you began the journey from. It serves as a measure of growth, and when properly evaluated, humbles us to do better.
