From slave to Prime Minister

We are all want to identify ourselves with prominent people in the society. A group of high school students were asked to do a research on their most influential leaders. One student chose to write on Benjamin Franklin. With very little formal education, he was able to defy all odds and become one of the founding fathers of America. His limitation was a valuable life lesson he cherished and it had an influence on his every decision, making a significant contribution to all the documents that founded the country. Joseph, the son of Jacob is one of the characters in the Bible I admire a lot. Having been born to the favorite wife of his father, he was envied by his elder brothers. Spending time with his father, he grew up learning the virtues that pleased his father and earned him a coat of many colors. As a dreamer, he knew that he would be great someday, however the road to the greatness was not a smooth one.

Out of jealousy, he was sold into slavery in Egypt. By the hand of God, he got the opportunity to serve in Potiphar’s house, being put in charge of everything owned by Potiphar except for his wife. Although he was offered a free sexual satisfaction with “Mrs Potiphar”, he decided to flee from that. This got Him to prison. Do you know why he would flee from such a glorious opportunity?

But he refused. “With me in charge,” he told her, “my master does not concern himself with anything in the house; everything he owns he has entrusted to my care. No one is greater in this house than I am. My master has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?” And though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he refused to go to bed with her or even be with her.

Genesis chapter 39 versus 8 to 10 (NIV)

His readiness to show forth his light in a foreign land got him into prison. However, his experience in the prison led him to the corridors of Pharaoh’s palace. His desire to be fruitful and live a holy life kept him aligned to the will of God and brought into fulfilment the prophecy that God gave to his great grandfather Abraham.

Why should we be fruitful amidst our current hardships? This story teaches us that each one of us is walking on a path for good works that were predestined for us. It however takes us to fight through the challenges to be able to get there. For we all have the potential to move from being a slave to a prime minister. Why are you to be the prime minister…

…Now do not be upset or blame yourselves because you sold me here. It was really God who sent me ahead of you to save people’s lives.

Genesis chapter 45 versus 5 (GNB)

It is God’s desire to save people, our families and friends from their current circumstances. You are the answer that He has prepared for them. You are to be fruitful to fulfil that call and assignment over your life. That is why God cuts away any tree that does not bear fruits.

Prayer

It is my prayer that our minds will be opened to understand what our calling is. I also pray that we will receive the power to be fruitful in every endeavors of our lives. This and many other blessesing we ask in the name of Christ our Lord AMEN!!!
