The Pillar of Business

No organisation runs on an empty corfex. The world as we see it is run by some selected few with enormous amount of riches. Owning various companies, they have become forces that dictate the state of affairs in most nations. Throughout history, we can name a few interventions by government and its state authorities to limit the power of the businesses in dictating the state of affairs of the nation. An example is the intervention of the U.S. government in restricting the monopoly of the Microsoft Company’s operating system1.

Throughout scripture, the importance of businessmen supporting the work of God has been very clearly defined. When the Israelites were leaving Egypt after their 440 years of slavery, God gave them favor in the sight of the Egyptians who gave them their silver and gold (Exodus 12:36). Interestingly enough, the people used this same expensive ornaments to build for themselves a golden calf to worship. Fast tracking, they also used the same gold and expensive ornaments in building God’s tabernacle (Exodus 35:1 – 36:7). The same wealth God gave unto the people of Israel was used for building a calf and for building God’s tabernacle.

Solomon’s temple had two pillars at its entrance. The names of the pillars were Boaz and Jachin. Boaz, as we know from the book of Ruth, was a kinsman redeemer. To be qualified as a kinsman redeemer, you needed to be wealthy enough to clear all the debt of the one to be redeemed and be willing to restore the inheritance to its former owner2. This means that the establishment of the Kingdom of God is men and women blessed with wealth to support the agenda of God.

There are so many projects ongoing in this world that is supported with finances. LGBT and many projects have full financial backing, with huge investments in scholarships, sports, amongst many others. For the KIngdom of God to advance in its influence, God is raising men and women who will possess the pillar of business and sponsor His cause on Earth. God is still in the business of building His tabernacle amongst us by revealing His glory in every corner of this world. He is empowering us to be wealthy because He will ask us to give the gold and silver to build the tabernacle and we should be willing to release it. Is it not interesting that it took a wealthy man called Joseph to request for Jesus’ body to be buried in a new tomb (Matthew 27:57). For the wealth is not yours, irrespective of what you think you may have done to earn it. He said:

You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is today.

Deuteronomy Chapter 8 verse 17 to 18

God is beckoning on us to open our hearts and minds to His eternal purposes. Enough of shunning away from the call of God upon our lives. God is granting so many of us business ideas. He is granting you the ability to produce the wealth and as such impact the world. Be careful when the wealth comes, for the same wealth can make you build a golden calf to worship or build God’s tabernacle.

Prayer

Thank you Father for your word we have heard today. Thank you for your Grace that is available unto us today to make wealth. We pray that you will continually shape us as you empower us to possess the pillar of business, all for the sake of your Glory. This and many other blessings we ask in the name of Christ our Lord. AMEN!!!
