Prerequisites of abundance (Part 6)

I remember a story I overhead someone share some time ago. Benjamin was a final year student in a high school. He was always the best in a class of about thirty students. He had maintained his position as the best student for a long time. However, after sitting for their final exams, Abigail topped the whole district as the overall best student to the amazement of the entire school. Abigail was not the kind of person you would book as the cleverest or smartest. She has been slow at learning and understanding the lessons that she had been taught. Her parents had tried various learning disability therapies for her, but to no avail. Then one day, she heard a sermon and the Pastor said, “Have a high expectation, do not give up”. From that moment, she began developing the attitude and mental capacity to get to her dream of becoming a cardiologist. Gradually, she picked up with the help of various online tools. Her parents nor teachers could not see the progress because they had lost hope for to become any better, until the final exams revealed what she had been doing.

6. Have high expectations

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,

Ephesians 3:20 (NIV)

This story brings us to the sixth prerequisite for abundance: we need to have high expectations for what God can do for us. God overdoes what we can think or imagine. That is to mean that if we have the ability to think or perceive something, God can do exceedingly abundantly more than what we have been able to think or imagine. So what should stop of from having high expectations?

The prophet told the woman to go and collect empty vessels, but not a few. Your ability to collect thousands of them determines how much you would get from selling the oil. The amount of “abundance” was dependent on how much empty vessels she could get.

Elisha said, “Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don’t ask for just a few.

2 Kings 4:3 (NIV)

We need to trust God to help us get through the process. In our moment of need, God is there to help us us. Keep that mental agility that God is there to help you through. Have high expectations, for our God is willing and able to do exceedingly and abundantly more than we can think or imagine. He will do it for you!

Prayer

Thank you Lord for Your word that I have heard today. Thank you that you are with me and helping me through life’s challenges. I am eternally grateful unto you. I pray that you will grant me the grace to keep the bigger picture in mind and not lose faith in what you are doing in my life. This and many other blessings I ask in the name of Christ our Lord. AMEN!

To be able to enjoy this exceeding and abundant provision, you must have a relationship with Christ. He is the source of all of the provisions, and remember that God does the exceedingly and abundantly according to the power that is at work within you. What power is in you? Today I suggest the Holy Spirit for you, but you cannot have Him without receiving Christ as your Lord and savior. If you want to do so, say these words after me:

I thank you Father for sending Your Son Christ Jesus to die for me. I believe that Christ died for my sins, was buried and resurrected that I may have eternal life and a relationship with You. I receive Christ as my Lord and personal Savior. Please come into my heart and make me new. I long to have fellowship with you. AMEN!
